BURN BAN LIFTED
Per the DMRVFD Fire Chief Loren H. Spencer, the Jeff Davis County Commissioners Court lifted the burn ban for Jeff Davis County. This is a thirty day lift and will be reconsidered by the court in September. SOME IMPORTANT considerations:
1. Due diligence is extremely important because fuel load is still very heavy from the drought. .
2. Consider wind and other factors before burning.
3. Have means close at hand and operating to extinquish the fire.
4. Be considerate of your neighbors as to smoke direction because many have breathing problems.
5. Materials other than brush may still be under ban by the TCEQ (air quality).
NEGLIGENCE CAN LEAD TO FINES AND IMPRISONMENT WHEN YOU CREATE A FIRE THAT BECOMES UNCONTROLLED. YOU ALSO BECOME LIABLE FOR OTHERS' PROPERTY THAT IS DESTROYED. PLEASE NOTIFY THE DMRVFD OF INTENT TO BURN AND EVERYONE IS ENCOURAGED TO REPORT SMOKE; 432-426-2800 or 432-426-3326.
Open Board meetings are held the 2nd Saturday of every month at 2:00 p.m. at the Community Center and Road Committee meetings are held at 1:00 p.m. All DMR property owners are welcome to attend.
The voting participation in this year's election yielded a substantial increase in the number of votes. For encouraging participation, and for all their work in fulfilling their duties, the former Board of Directors would like to thank the Nominating Committee (Chair Ann Brevard, Steve Barr & Rick Draheim). Also deserving of appreciation is this year's Election Judge, Pastor Lloyd Low, and his "election team" (Ann Brevard, Sandy Irish, Stephanie Roberts, and Office Manager Deborah Lagarde). As well, the Nominating Committee would like to thank all the candidates who ran in this year's election.
